Evolution is an animated slot by Net Entertainment that takes Darwin’s theory of Evolution and plays with some of the earlier concepts. Everybody should know by now that life originated in the sea, and so that is the angle that Net Entertainment has tried to play with in this release. It is an underwater themed slot, although the creature representing “life” are completely fictitious and somewhat barmy, if truth be told. There is even a rodent with wings, and bright lights floating on the reels!

How to play Evolution slots online

This slot game features 5 reels and 25 paylines for gamers to play with. Evolution is a relatively new slot that should now be available in all good casino running Net Entertainment titles. Players can choose coin values from £0.01 up to £0.50 per coin, and can wager up to 10 coins per line, with the bet level button. The paylines are not adjustable, meaning players have a minimum wager of £0.25 per spin, and a maximum wager of £250 per spin; and of course, anything in-between.

The icons in this slot float in the reels, as if they were suspended in the watery backdrop. The high playing card icons are used as the low paying symbols, with each placing inside a jellyfish like creature. The higher paying icons are represented by critters and weird life forms with names such as Albus Slugus, Bestia Dentum, Basilisk Hairicus, Basilisk Pluma and Draconius Rex, in a comical play on Latin genus and species names.

Evolution bonus features

Free spins can be triggered by the scatter symbol in this slot. The scatter symbol is quite simply some very green text that says “free spins”. Three or more of the free spin icons will trigger a free spins mini-game. For two scatter symbols, the player will simply have their line bet multiplied. Players will have a 4x line bet multiplier and 10 free spins for 3 scatter symbols, a 20x multiplier and 15 free spins for 4 scatter symbols, and finally a 100x multiplier and 20 free spins for 5 scatter symbols.

The wild symbol

In this slot machine game, Net Entertainment have chosen a multi-coloured bubble that has “wild” written across it in bright yellow text. The wild symbols act as any ordinary wild, substituting themselves for any other symbols except for free spin symbols to result in a better win. The wild symbols only appear on reels 2, 3, 4 and 5, and only offer the highest line bet payout, from left to right.

The Evolution Feature

The Evolution Feature is a bonus game that is only activated by a winning symbol in the free spins bonus round. This mini game allows players to climb up an evolutionary symbol scale for bigger and better symbols and evolution takes place and the symbols “evolve”  into better ones.

When a player wins with symbol in the free spins mode, the symbols in the winning combination will evolve into the next best symbol, along with those other like symbols on the reels. This can greatly enhance a player’s win, if there are similar symbols on the reels that match the ones the winning symbols turn into.

The Evolution jackpot

This non-progressive jackpot slot comes with a total jackpot of 44,000 coins which can be won via the Evolution Feature. Aside from the high paying jackpot, and the bonus rounds, which are worth indeterminate sums of money; the next best standard symbols to aim for are the Draconius Rex and Basilisk Pluma, the two rodent looking critters, as they have payouts of 500 coins and 250 coins respectively, if 5 are found on a winning payline.

Other notes on Evolution

Graphically, Evolution is a superb little slot. Oh, it will certainly drive die-hard evolutionists and science nick-pickers insane with its take on evolution, but that’s all part of the fun now, isn’t it? The audio is also somewhat decent, and the slot machine game lacks any of those annoying looping medleys, motifs and jingles that can sometimes come with slot games.

The special feature in this slot is really unique, and isn’t found in many other slots. It is somewhat similar to a drop-down feature used in other slots, in that a single spin can bring multiple payouts. However, a player could very well end up with the majority of their icons on the reels during the Evolution Feature, being identical, which would result in a massive payday indeed.

As a general overview; gamer’s who love their unusual themes in slots are going to find Evolution a most agreeable slot game. Gamer’s who like something different in how their slot is played, with unusual features will also find it likeable. In fact, there isn’t a single real reason why all gamers won’t love this online slot machine.
