Gold is the name of the game isn’t it? Microgaming’s Gold Factory is literally full of shiny things to get your bank and morale boosted at the same time. This slot is very Willy Wonka in theme, taking place in a factory where gold is produced. Yes, there can be little question about the inspiration for this slot. Gold Factory is a very cartoon-like slot machine, with decent enough graphics, a huge non-progressive jackpot, lots of special features and incredibly cheap gameplay, Gold Factory is an enjoyable ride from start to finish.

How to play Gold Factory slots online

Microgaming’s Gold Factory is played over 5 reels and has a whopping 50 paylines for gamers to enjoy. Unlike some of their other slots, Microgaming has made certain that this game allows players to adjust the paylines to their own choosing. A coin value range of £0.01 up to £0.10, and a total of 5 coins per line being possible, means that the slot has a floor bet of only £0.01 per line, per spin; and a ceiling wager of only £25.00 per maximum spin, with all of the paylines activated.

The Willy Wonka-like entrepreneur is the main icon in this slot, paying out 50,000 coins when 5 or more are struck on a payline. Other top paying icons include a young boy and the factory itself, all drawn in a cartoon style. A train, and submersible and a balloon ship are also worth decent payouts, whilst a mine cart of gold bars, the gold bars themselves and several stacks of coins make up the lower paying symbols in this slot. Even the lower paying icons though are worth considerably more than you might find in other slot machine games.

Gold Factory bonus features

The bonus coin is the scatter symbol in this slot. 2 scatter symbols will payout 2,000 coins when they are found anywhere on the reels. 3 or 4 scatter icons coughs up 3,000 and 20,000 coins respectively, whilst 200,000 coins can be won if a player bags 5 or more scatter symbols anywhere on the reels.

Three or more scatter symbols triggers a bonus round, which could see a player win up to 619,000 coins. The Boiler Room Bonus allows players to pick 4 out of 12 items which will each have a hidden prize behind them.

There is also a second level of bonuses that can be triggered if a player is lucky enough to unlock it during the first Boiler Room Bonus. These bonuses can be triggered by finding either free spin coins or reactor bonus coins during the bonus round.

The wild symbol

The game’s logo is also the wild icon in this slot. The wild icon typically replaces itself with any symbol that a player needs to win a payline, although it cannot replace scatter symbols. The wild icons pays out on combinations from left to right only, and not from right to left.

Gold Factory Level 2 bonus features                                          

The two additional bonus levels that can be triggered during the Boiler Room Bonus are the Free Spins Bonus and the Reactor Bonus. Each can be triggered by the finding their respective coins (icons) in the Boiler Room Bonus round.

During the Free Spins Bonus, players are awarded between 10 and 35 free spins, with any wins accumulating during play in this round being doubled. Free spins cannot be retriggered in this round.

The Reactor Bonus offers players 12 items to choose from. The player begins picking the items one by one until the Malfunction logo is found. There are normally 2 per 12 items of this logo and when one if found, the bonus round ends. The other 10 items will contain prizes.

The Gold Factory jackpot

Aside from the mammoth jackpot that can be won in the Boiler Room Bonus game (the aforementioned 619,000 coins), there is a standard jackpot in the slot that can be won. Should a player bag 3 wild icons on a payline, they’ll win 1,500 coins. They’ll win 15,000 coins if they bag four wilds on a payline. The standard jackpot in Gold Factory is a fair 150,000 coins, which a player can win when they line up 5 wild icons on a payline in standard play.

Other notes on Gold Factory

This is a more than entertaining slot game by Microgaming. The additional of two extra bonus rounds after the main bonus round is greatly appreciated. Again, it does seem unusual that Microgaming have decided to put their major jackpot in a bonus round, instead of in standard play, but there’s no complaining there.

There are so many Microgaming slots out there today that feature the 243 ways to win, or other massive multi-payline combinations that players cannot adjust. It is very nice then, to have a great slot, with bonus rounds, scatters, wilds, multipliers, fair bets and a massive non-progressive jackpot, that player’s can adjust the paylines of.
